FOUR FLAT WHITES IN ITALY

In this comedy, two couples have decided to have the “adventure before the dementia” by taking a well planned trip to Italy … So what could possibly go wrong? Written in 2009 by Roger Hall, one of New Zealand’s most successful playwrights, this is a very funny play that promises a very enjoyable night at the theatre.
SEASON
Friday, 26 October – Saturday, 1 December
Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at 8pm
Sunday matinees: 4, 18 and 25 November at 2pm
AUDITION DETAILS
Monday, July 16th, 2018 at 7:30pm at the Arts Theatre Cronulla.
Audition pieces will be a reading from the play.
Rehearsals will commence a couple of weeks later, either Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights from 7:30pm.
CHARACTERS
Two couples, both around the 55-65 year old range. They are not friends but circumstances bring them together for a travel experience of a lifetime.
Both couples have Australian accents.
First Couple
ADRIAN: Recently retired librarian from the University. Uptight.
ALISON: His wife, who was also a librarian. Very uptight.
Second Couple
HARRY: Retired businessman. Had a plumbing supplies company. Bluff, outspoken, right wing.
JUDY: His second, younger (but not by very much), wife. Outgoing and sexy.
There are also two really great supporting roles; they play several varied and hugely important characters. Both roles have a more involved role in Act 2.
AN ITALIAN MALE – any age, but suggest around 40-60 (plays many parts). Waiters (various); Gondolier; “Centurion”; Beggar; Security Guard, Count (owner of the villa).
The Italian male will have an Italian accent.
AN ITALIAN FEMALE – age range 30-50 years old.
Hotel clerk, Waitress, Tour Guide, Avis car hire woman, Nicola (co-owner of the villa); Dress shop owner.
The Italian female will have an Italian accent and is also an English speaking countess.
