Auditions are open to everyone, and if selected, you will need to become a member of the theatre ($25), if you are not a current financial member.
Note:
Please don’t hold back from auditioning. If a director doesn’t know you want to have a go, it makes it really difficult for a director to know you were thinking about a role.
This also applies if you want to try stage managing, stage hand or tech – let the director know early and we can get training asap. We are ALWAYS looking for enthusiastic & reliable volunteers!
Rehearsals:
Commencing 6:30pm, Monday, 10th May (Play reading). 7pm, Tuesday, 11th & Thursday, 13th (Rehearsals).
Synopsis:
Life without Me, by the much-awarded playwright, Daniel Keene, is a funny, honest and heart-warming story that invites us to question life or at least our own. A mix of drifters set in a hotel lobby, capturing the emotional truth of the almost absurd characters in search of the concept of happiness.
Cast:
Nigel: Hotel clerk (30’s-early 40’s)
John: Guest (50’s +)
Roy: Salesman (50’s +)
Alice: Guest (50’s +)
Mrs Spence: Nigel’s mum (60’s-70’s)
Tom: Guest & Ellen’s husband (late 20’s-30’s)
Ellen: Guest & Tom’s wife (late 20’s-30’s)
No specified dialect is needed for this show. We strongly encourage the use of actors’ natural accent/dialect.
Please be prepared with a 1-2 minute monologue of your choice.
Excerpts from the play will be available on the night. It is advisable that you are familiar with the play and the characters you will be auditioning for.
